Help us build the next generation of entrepreneurs in North Korea

Since 2007, Choson Exchange has been engaging with the DPRK to spur on the next generation of innovative entrepreneurs that succeed in the most challenging of environments. Choson Exchange supports local entrepreneurs in North Korea by providing them with hands-on training in entrepreneurship, business, marketing, and more. We have taught over 2500 budding innovators at all levels of society through our in-country workshops, online lectures and overseas excursions. Our extensive network of volunteer lecturers and workshop leaders develop material and deliver curtailed content to North Korean students that enables them to create their own success.

Since 2007, we have brought hundreds of professionals to the DPRK, who have trained thousands of North Koreans. Our programs have been featured by major media around the world, and have a proven record of meaningful impact for the Korean people.

We have brought hundreds of professionals to the DPRK, who have trained thousands of North Koreans. In the online realm, we have delivered our content live and direct to university campuses and then further beyond with our distributed recorded material. Our programs have been featured by major media around the world, and have a proven record of meaningful impact for the Korean people. Our guidance has helped spur the creation of women-owned coffee shops all the way to conceptualising consumer apps for the North Korean intranet.

We are in hand-in-hand with locals on the ground who are working for positive change in their country.

Our Work

Teaching, learning and engagement

We support entrepreneurship in North Korea through a variety of programmes that help us engage with all levels of society. Pre-covid, we built up an extensive network of North Korean partners and workshop leaders that enabled us to directly reach hundreds of students each year. During North Korea’s prolonged border closure, we continued online programmes that remain active and reach thousands of students with live and recorded lectures.

Through our decade of collective knowledge on engaging with North Korea, we advise on engagement and finding success in dealing with the DPRK.

Students Trained

Cumulative students trained by Choson Exchange through online and in-country workshops

Covid-19

In early 2020 as the COVID pandemic spread around the world North Korea became the first country to close its border. With no travel possible, this put our in-country program on pause. Throughout this time we maintained regular contact with our in-country partners and pivoted to Online Education. As regulations relax, we are monitoring the situation and will update when in-country programming begins again.

Current Programmes

Online live lectures for NK developed during covid and ongoing today.

Help us spread the value of entrepreneurship to students and practitioners across the North through the web.

Since 2010, we have delivered in-person workshops to Korean students inside and outside of North Korea.

Our workshop leaders travel to North Korea to teach and we also bring students out of the DPRK to attend seminars across Asia and Europe.
